The
Galapagos is a nature-lover's paradise. Over 90% of the archipelago
is under the protection of the Galapagos National Park, with the
remaining area incorporating the small settlements on the islands.
The endemic wildlife is abundant and unafraid of humans - you can
literally walk right up to a booby and swim amongst the sea lions.
Despite lying on both sides of the equator, the climate is quite
temperate.
We
explored the Galapagos for a week aboard a 20-passenger tourist
boat, the Flamingo I (identical to the Eric and Letty). The accommodations
were quite comfortable, the food was delicious, and the itinerary
was perfect for experiencing the diversity of the islands. We booked
our trip through ExpeditionTrips.
