Crest Hotel, downtown Sydney. Recover from jetlag and explore
the city.

Treetops Resort. Diving on Great Barrier Reef and trips into
Daintree National Park.

Tour 2 - Daintree Wilderness Experience (Upland Daintreee
Rainforest) with Wait-a-While
Tours. This is the best option for experiencing a genuine
wilderness area, with the chance to walk in extraordinary remote
upland World Heritage rainforest. This large area of rugged mountains
and mysterious valleys is often shrouded with mist, and much research
is yet to be done on the flora and fauna found there. We are fortunate
to be able to visit the home of rare animals such as the White
Lemuroid possum, Spotted-tailed Quoll, Daintree Ringtail possum,
and Golden Bowerbird.
(11/6)
Diving and snorkeling on the outer Great Barrier Reef on Posseidon's
50-passenger boat, departing from Port Douglas.
NOV
7-8: GREEN ISLAND
Take the ferry out to Green Island, on the Great Barrier Reef
and spend the night at the beautiful Green Island Resort. Snorkel
just off the beaches, kayak in the crystal clear waters, take
a glass-bottom boat ride, and stroll through the national-park
island forest.
NOV
8-11: CAIRNS
Take a ferry back to Cairns and stay at the Hotel Sofitel
Reef Casino.
(11/9)
Tour 1 - Mountain Wildlife Experience (Atherton Tableland)
with Wait-a-While
Tours, running from 2pm to midnight. This is the best
option for wildlife viewing, visiting different habitats across
the Atherton Tableland and the mountains beyond, including dry
and wet sclerophyll forest, and rainforest refuge areas (primarily
above 900m in altitude). While there are no guarantees, with our
experience and carefully chosen locations, we have the chance
to see an excellent variety of birds and mammals. This
tour also includes some of the natural attractions of the Atherton
Tableland, such as the Crater lakes, strangler fig trees, and
World Heritage rainforest. Of the 2 tours that we offer, this
one provides the best chance of seeing platypus and Lumholtz's
tree-kangaroo.
(11/10)
Take a half-day rafting trip down the Grade 3 Barron River with
RnR Rafting.
